This simple system allows authorized loved ones or nursing home staff to remotely video call into the bed or living room and have a personal video call with them. The loved one does nothing because Skype Video is set up to auto-answer based on authorized callers. This solution of visually connecting with a remote computer has HUGE applications for checking on buildings, staff, warehouses, and a host of other possibilities.
Requirements:
1. One PC or laptop. You can even use a recycled or thrown away PC. If your loved one would tamper with the system, put it up in the ceiling or on a shelf out of reach.
2. An old Monitor, or better yet a Flat Screen TV hooked up to PC with a VGA cable.
3. A Webcamera. I like the $60 Logitech C905, but any webcamera will work. Note: Almost every webcam has a microphone. Use a USB extension cable if necessary.
4. Wi-Fi or Internet access. Any type of connection will do.
5. Any speaker hooked up to PC for incoming audio.

Tell on how to set up a recycled PC/laptop with a simple Webcam to
Auto-answer incoming Skype Video calls to a loved one. The caller
controls everything on Granny's side and now can talk with 2-way video

TV. This one idea revolutionizes the elderly health care system. It's
so simple, so why not do it?
